FAO  ALL PARISH CLERKS in the Blackdown Hills AONB
These extraordinary times of social distancing and restrictions to movement have  brought changes to the way Parish Councils conduct their business.
You may already be aware that in the Statutory Instrument of the Coronavirus Bill enacted by the Secretary of State,  provision was made to allow Parish Councils to conduct virtual meetings. NALC has published a guide on holding remote PC meetings which summarises a number of remote meeting platforms, discusses options for areas with slow connections and options for councillors who may not be connected to the internet at all.

The BHPN steering group is interested to know how many parish councils / meetings plan to use this option in order to carry on the business of their councils during this difficult time.  Please reply to [email protected] with your brief comments on what you plan to do and let us know how you get on.

As you are well aware, one of the key action points for the steering group has been  to persist in our efforts to get improved broadband provision for this area; our MPs will be updated on the virtual meeting experiences around our parishes.

May I also take this opportunity to remind you that it is renewal time for parish subscriptions to the BHPN.  Existing members have received reminders of the June 30th 2020 deadline for 2020-2021 subs.  Those parishes which have not yet subscribed are reminded that the suggested sub is 20 – 25p per electoral roll member.  If you would like more information please get in touch.
